This MRI Technologist opportunity is located in Nags Head, North Carolina, a charming coastal community in the heart of the Outer Banks. Known for its wide, sandy beaches, iconic dunes, and laid-back seaside atmosphere, Nags Head offers a lifestyle that blends year-round livability with the feel of a vacation destination. Outside of work, you can enjoy world-class fishing, surfing, kayaking, and paddleboarding, or simply relax on the beach after your shift. The area features scenic bike paths, nearby state parks, historic lighthouses, and easy access to other Outer Banks towns such as Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Manteo, giving you plenty of options for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
The community is ideal for professionals who enjoy the outdoors, with opportunities for hiking at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, exploring nature preserves, and experiencing stunning sunrises over the Atlantic and sunsets over the sound. Nags Head maintains a welcoming, small-town feel, yet it supports a steady flow of visitors during warmer months, creating a dynamic, engaging environment. The coastal setting encourages a strong sense of work–life balance, with many employees choosing to live close to the water and make the most of their time off.
As an MRI Technologist in this setting, you will work in a modern imaging department that is focused on delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging and exceptional patient care. You will perform a broad range of MRI examinations, including neuro, musculoskeletal, abdominal, and vascular studies, depending on the facility’s case mix. A typical day may include patient screening and education, coordinating exam schedules, positioning patients safely and comfortably, selecting appropriate protocols, and working closely with radiologists to produce high-quality images that support accurate diagnoses.
You will collaborate with a supportive team of imaging professionals who value communication, safety, and efficiency. The department emphasizes adherence to MRI safety standards, including thorough screening for implants, devices, and contraindications. You can expect to use contemporary MRI scanners and digital systems designed to streamline workflow and maintain image quality. The environment is designed to be patient-friendly and efficient, serving both local residents and seasonal visitors.
Work schedules may include day, evening, and possible weekend shifts based on departmental needs. Patient volumes can vary throughout the year, with increased activity during peak visitor seasons. This offers valuable experience in managing a diverse and sometimes fast-paced caseload while still maintaining a focus on individualized patient care. You will typically work with a manageable patient load, allowing time for proper safety checks, positioning, and communication with patients who may be unfamiliar with MRI.
