Pay Rate: $2009.00 - $2070.00
This acute care Physical Therapist opportunity is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a coastal city known for its beautiful sandy beaches, crystal-blue Atlantic waters, and extensive boating and yachting culture. With a warm, sunny climate year-round, Fort Lauderdale offers an enviable outdoor lifestyle that includes beach days, waterfront dining, paddleboarding, and easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway. The city’s walkable neighborhoods, thriving arts and entertainment district, and close proximity to Miami make it an appealing place to live and work for healthcare professionals seeking both professional growth and a vibrant personal life.
Fort Lauderdale’s downtown and Las Olas Boulevard areas provide a rich mix of restaurants, cafes, galleries, boutiques, and nightlife. Residents enjoy a strong cultural scene with theaters, museums, live music, and community events throughout the year. The city is also known for its family-friendly parks, excellent schools in the broader metropolitan area, and convenient access to major airports and highways, making travel and weekend getaways easy. Whether you prefer relaxing by the beach, exploring nature preserves and waterways, or enjoying urban amenities, Fort Lauderdale delivers a balanced and attractive lifestyle.
In this role, you will practice in a modern acute care hospital environment that supports evidence-based practice and patient-centered care. The facility offers updated inpatient units, well-equipped therapy gyms, and access to advanced diagnostic and treatment technology. You will join a collaborative rehabilitation team and work closely with physicians, nursing staff, case management, and other allied health professionals who are committed to delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality care. The culture emphasizes teamwork, open communication, and mutual respect, creating a supportive environment for both new and experienced therapists.
Typical responsibilities include performing comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing interventions to improve mobility, strength, endurance, and functional independence. You will manage a caseload that may include post-operative surgical patients, orthopedic and spine cases, neurological conditions such as stroke and brain injury, cardiopulmonary patients, and individuals with complex medical needs. Daily tasks may involve early mobility in the ICU, gait and balance training on medical-surgical floors, stair training, transfer training, discharge planning, and patient and family education.
The typical day includes collaborating in interdisciplinary rounds, prioritizing patients based on acuity and discharge needs, documenting care in the EMR, and coordinating follow-up services to ensure safe transitions of care. Patient ratios are structured to support meaningful, high-quality interventions while maintaining reasonable productivity expectations. You may work across various units including medical-surgical, telemetry, step-down, ICU, and specialty units depending on hospital needs and your experience.
Shifts are generally full-time and may include a combination of weekday schedules with the potential for weekend or holiday rotations as needed to support seven-day acute care coverage. Hours are designed to provide consistent daytime coverage for patient care and interdisciplinary coordination, with some flexibility based on department staffing patterns. The role offers opportunities to participate in continuing education, in-service training, and departmental initiatives that enhance your clinical skills and support your long-term career development in acute care.
This position is well suited for a Physical Therapist who values working with medically complex patients, enjoys a dynamic hospital setting, and wants to build or continue a strong acute care skill set.
