his Echo Technologist role is based in Ahoskie, North Carolina, a welcoming small town in northeastern North Carolina known for its friendly atmosphere, slower pace of life, and strong sense of community. Residents enjoy a low cost of living, minimal traffic, and the charm of a close-knit environment, while still having convenient access to larger towns and cities for shopping and entertainment. Ahoskie is surrounded by natural beauty, with nearby rivers, woodlands, and parks offering opportunities for fishing, boating, hiking, and other outdoor activities. The North Carolina coast and Outer Banks are within a reasonable drive, making weekend getaways to the beach or coastal attractions easy and enjoyable.
The facility serves as a key healthcare provider for Ahoskie and the surrounding region, giving Echo Technologists the opportunity to play an important role in delivering essential cardiac imaging services to the community. The imaging and cardiology teams are typically structured to be collaborative and supportive, with close working relationships between technologists, cardiologists, nurses, and other allied health professionals. This environment allows for strong mentorship, shared learning, and a focus on high-quality, patient-centered care.
In this position, you can expect a varied and engaging workday. Primary responsibilities include performing high-quality adult transthoracic echocardiograms, obtaining complete and technically adequate studies that allow physicians to make accurate diagnostic and treatment decisions. Technologists will prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the study. You will acquire and optimize images, perform appropriate measurements and calculations, and document findings accurately within the electronic medical record and structured reporting system, in accordance with departmental protocols and accreditation standards.
The role may include a mix of inpatient and outpatient studies, with potential involvement in urgent or emergent echocardiograms from the emergency department or intensive care setting. Depending on the facility’s service offerings, there may be opportunities to assist with or perform stress echocardiography, contrast studies, and transesophageal echocardiography support. Echo Technologists are often expected to coordinate with scheduling staff, prioritize add-on cases, and communicate effectively with referring providers to ensure timely and appropriate testing.
