This Ultrasound Technologist opportunity is based in Ahoskie, North Carolina, a welcoming small town in eastern North Carolina known for its relaxed pace of life, neighborly atmosphere, and strong sense of community. You will work in a community-focused hospital environment that supports high-quality imaging services for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients. The facility emphasizes safe, evidence-based care and promotes a collaborative, team-oriented culture among radiology, nursing, and medical staff. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will play a key role in delivering timely, accurate diagnostic imaging that directly supports patient care decisions.
Typical responsibilities include performing general, OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound examinations according to established protocols, ensuring optimal image quality and patient comfort. You will prepare and position patients, explain procedures, obtain relevant clinical histories, and maintain meticulous documentation within the EMR and PACS systems. You will work closely with radiologists and ordering providers to clarify exam requests and communicate critical findings in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with ultrasound-guided procedures, maintaining equipment readiness, and observing all safety and infection control standards.
A typical day may include a blend of scheduled outpatient exams, inpatient studies, and add-on or stat exams from the emergency department. Patient populations can range from pediatric to geriatric, with varied levels of acuity. Depending on the department’s structure, you may rotate through different exam types and areas, offering ongoing variety and opportunities to broaden your skill set. Patient volumes and ratios are managed to support both efficiency and quality, with supportive leadership focused on safe workloads and patient-centered workflows.
