Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with Lactation expertise to provide high-quality lactation support and education to families in our Maternity Department. This contract position will involve patient education, training, and support for postpartum care, breastfeeding, newborn care, and overall family health during the immediate postpartum period.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide lactation support and education to new mothers and families.
Lead daily classes on postpartum care, newborn care, danger signs for birthing persons and newborns, and breastfeeding techniques.
Host bimonthly Community Prenatal Classes to educate expectant families.
Deliver ongoing education to hospital staff on Baby Friendly USA guidelines and recommendations.
Conduct breastfeeding skills education classes for both families and staff.
Perform Baby Friendly USA audits to ensure hospital compliance with current best practices.
Serve as a resource for lactation-related issues and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

Requirements:
Current New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Certification.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in lactation consulting within a hospital or clinical setting.
Knowledge of Baby Friendly USA guidelines and practices.

Additional Information:

This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to teach and motivate patients and staff, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to ensure high standards of care.
Monday through Friday schedule, with no on-call requirement.
