Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) provides comprehensive respiratory therapy services to pediatric patients across all assigned care areas. The role involves delivering age-appropriate respiratory care, performing diagnostic testing, supporting critical care teams, and responding to emergency situations in a fast-paced pediatric hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Administer respiratory treatments as prescribed by medical staff
Perform invasive and non-invasive respiratory diagnostics and monitoring
Document treatments and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record
Provide age-appropriate respiratory care to pediatric patients
Maintain, clean, and ensure proper functioning of respiratory equipment
Act as a clinical resource to physicians and healthcare staff
Participate in rapid response, cardiac arrest, and respiratory arrest teams
Maintain accurate respiratory therapy records
Perform additional duties as assigned by the department
Required Qualifications
Education
Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program
Licensure & Certifications
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) – Oklahoma
Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
BLS (AHA) – required at hire
ACLS (AHA) – required within 3 months of hire
RRT credential – required within 12 months of hire
Experience
No minimum experience required
2 years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred
Pediatric, PICU, or NICU experience strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical decision-making skills
Knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures and equipment
Ability to interpret clinical data and assess patient needs
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Basic computer proficiency
Team-oriented and patient-focused approach
