Full-Time Surgical Tech - First Assist

• Pay: $38.72-$63.31, Depending on experience
• Shift Time: Days
• Weekly Hours: 40

Qualifications:

• Education: Completion of a Surgical Technology program with a focus on surgical assisting.
• Certification: Current certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through the NBSTSA or equivalent.
• Licensure: State licensure or certification as required by the state of practice.
• Experience: Previous experience as a Surgical First Assist Technician is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and operating room procedures.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication Skills, empathy, and a patient-centered approach.
• Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to ethical and confidentiality standards.
• Physical Requirements: Capable of standing for extended periods, lifting and positioning patients as necessary, and assisting with physically demanding tasks. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Preoperative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room by ensuring all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are available and properly sterilized.
• Patient Preparation: Help position and prepare patients for surgery, including cleaning and draping the surgical site and verifying patient information.
• Surgical Assistance: Provide direct support to surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and assisting with hemostatis and suturing.
• Surgical Technology: Operate and maintain surgical equipment, including electrosurgical devices and endoscopic instruments, ensuring proper functioning.
• Infection Control: Follow strict aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile field and minimize infection risks.
• Medication Management: Administer medications and solutions as directed by the surgical team, including anesthesia and irrigation.
• Documentation: Accurately document surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, needles, and instruments, in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Patient Safety: Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with patient transport and positioning to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with the surgical team, anticipating their needs and responding to requests promptly.
• Postoperative Care: Assist with wound dressings, closure, and patient transfer to recovery, ensuring the operating room is cleaned and prepared for the next procedure.
