Job Description & Requirements
Computed Tomography Technologist - (CT Tech)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 N Pay Rate: $2550.00 - $2628.00

This Multi-Modality Technologist 2 position is a night-shift role at a community-focused hospital in Petersburg, Virginia, providing a great balance of professional growth and a relaxed, affordable lifestyle. Petersburg is a historic Central Virginia city in the midst of ongoing revitalization, offering tree-lined neighborhoods, easy access to the James River region, and a convenient commute to Richmond and other surrounding communities. Residents enjoy local restaurants, historic sites, cultural events, and outdoor recreation, all with a lower cost of living than many larger metropolitan areas. The hospital features a busy imaging department that supports emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services with a strong emphasis on high-quality CT and diagnostic imaging. As a Multi-Modality Technologist 2, you will perform CT and at least one additional imaging modality, such as general radiography or fluoroscopy, depending on department needs. Night shift coverage typically includes supporting emergency department cases, inpatient studies, and urgent add-on exams, allowing technologists to work at the top of their skill set with a high level of autonomy. On a typical night, you can expect to: Perform a variety of CT exams, including routine, emergency, stroke, and trauma protocols according to department standards and radiologist preferences Provide diagnostic radiographic imaging or other assigned modality services as scheduled or as needed Prioritize workflow across emergency, inpatient, and limited outpatient volumes Prepare and position patients, verify orders, screen for contraindications, and ensure proper use of contrast according to policy Work closely with radiologists and providers to ensure timely, accurate imaging for critical patients Maintain image quality and radiation safety practices, including dose optimization and adherence to ALARA principles Document all exams and patient information accurately in the PACS, RIS, and EMR systems The imaging department is equipped with modern CT scanners, digital radiography systems, and updated PACS/RIS technology, providing a solid platform for high-quality studies and efficient workflows. Technologists are supported by an experienced leadership team that encourages ongoing education, cross-training, and professional development. As a Multi-Modality Technologist 2, you will be part of a collaborative group of imaging professionals who value teamwork, respect, and open communication. Patient volumes and ratios can vary by night, but the department is structured to balance workload and ensure safe, thorough care. Night technologists often work closely with emergency physicians and hospitalists, making this a strong opportunity for technologists who enjoy being a vital part of the overnight care team and playing a key role in time-sensitive diagnoses. This position is ideal for a CT-focused technologist who wants to maintain and expand multi-modality skills, gain experience in a hospital environment, and enjoy living in a welcoming Central Virginia community with easy access to larger urban amenities. The role offers meaningful work in a supportive setting where your expertise as a technologist is highly valued.
