This Special Procedures and Cath Lab Technologist role offers a day-shift schedule in a well-established hospital located in Richmond, Virginia. As a Special Procedures and Cath Lab Technologist, you will support a broad range of diagnostic and interventional procedures. Typical cases may include diagnostic coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions, peripheral angiography and interventions, device implantations, and other special procedures performed in the cath or hybrid lab environment. Daily responsibilities often include preparing the room and equipment, setting up and maintaining sterile fields, performing scrub duties, assisting with device selection and preparation, operating imaging and hemodynamic systems, and monitoring and documenting patient status throughout the procedure. You can expect to rotate through key technologist roles, including scrub, circulate, and monitor, depending on case type and staffing. The department fosters a strong team culture between technologists, nurses, physicians, and support staff, with clear communication and structured workflows designed to support complex procedures and urgent cases. Patient volumes and case mix provide opportunities to maintain and expand skills in both routine and advanced interventional techniques. Shifts are primarily daytime, with participation in an on-call rotation for emergent procedures as needed. While patient ratios vary depending on case type and acuity, technologists typically work as part of a focused team dedicated to a specific room or procedural area during a shift. The environment supports professional development through exposure to evolving interventional technologies, cross-training opportunities, and involvement in new procedural offerings as the cardiovascular program grows.
