This Respiratory Therapist opportunity is based in Great Falls, Montana, a welcoming city along the Missouri River known for its wide-open skies, scenic waterfalls, and a relaxed, family-friendly lifestyle. Great Falls offers the charm of a close-knit community with the conveniences of a regional hub, making it an ideal setting if you enjoy both professional growth and an excellent quality of life. With a relatively low cost of living, short commute times, and easy access to outdoor adventures, Great Falls provides a balanced, sustainable lifestyle for healthcare professionals. In Great Falls, you will find abundant outdoor recreation in every season. The city sits along the River’s Edge Trail system, offering miles of walking, running, and biking paths with views of the Missouri River and the surrounding bluffs. Nearby, you can explore hiking, fishing, boating, camping, and wildlife viewing, with access to state parks, reservoirs, and scenic drives. For weekend getaways, you are within reach of iconic Montana destinations, mountain ranges, and national forests, allowing you to enjoy hiking in the summer and skiing or snow sports in the winter. The community also features local museums, art and cultural events, breweries, local eateries, and family-oriented activities throughout the year. The hiring facility is a modern regional medical center serving a broad catchment area, offering a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services. You will join a respected respiratory therapy department that is integrated into a collaborative, patient-centered care model. The environment emphasizes evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary teamwork, and continuous improvement. Respiratory therapists here are valued as key clinical partners, regularly interacting with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff to support high-quality outcomes. In this role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to a diverse patient population across multiple units, which may include medical-surgical floors, intensive care, emergency services, and step-down areas. Your daily responsibilities will typically include assessing and monitoring patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, initiating and managing oxygen therapy, administering aerosolized medications, performing chest physiotherapy and bronchial hygiene techniques, and obtaining and interpreting arterial blood gases. You will also be involved in setup, monitoring, and adjustment of ventilators and other advanced respiratory support systems, with opportunities to care for patients ranging from adults to, depending on assignment, pediatric or neonatal populations. You can expect a workload that is thoughtfully balanced, with staffing models designed to support safe patient ratios and allow time for thorough assessments and documentation. The patient mix often includes individuals with COPD, asthma, pneumonia, heart failure with respiratory compromise, post-operative respiratory needs, and acute respiratory failure requiring ventilatory support. Respiratory therapists are commonly part of rapid response and code teams, playing a key role in emergent airway management and stabilization. Typical shifts may include 8-, 10-, or 12-hour options depending on department needs, with both day and night shifts required for full coverage. Weekend and holiday rotations are shared fairly among team members. The department maintains strong communication practices, including structured handoffs, interdisciplinary rounding where respiratory therapy input is encouraged, and ongoing feedback channels between leadership and staff. The facility supports professional development, offering access to in-service education, support for maintaining certifications, and opportunities to broaden your skill set in specialized areas such as critical care, pulmonary diagnostics, or patient education. New team members receive a structured orientation that pairs you with experienced respiratory therapists to ensure you are comfortable with local protocols, equipment, and workflows. This Respiratory Therapist position in Great Falls, Montana, is well suited for a clinician who enjoys meaningful, hands-on patient care in a supportive hospital environment, while living in a community that provides natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and a manageable pace of life. It offers an opportunity to deepen your clinical expertise, contribute to a strong interdisciplinary team, and enjoy all that central Montana has to offer.
